Away We Go!!!

This is a company where Art meets Science. They will show how to have an equal balance between business growth and user facts and events. This is done through our data help of publishers and advertisers. Chitika was honored by Boston Business Journal as a finalist in the Top 15 from Greater Boston. All because they were considered one of the Healthiest Employers in 2013.
I will be talking about these following points

  • meaning of their name and background of the company
  • their online advertising network
  • how well does advertising really work
  • what they provide
  • support
  • cost

Finally, I will sum all this up at the end and give you my opinion. Here is my first point I want to elaborate on today or night depending on when you are reading this.

What’s in a Name/Where Are They From

Let me start off by telling you something I found very enlightening. The name Chitika, which is pronounced “chih-tih-ka” and comes from Telugu (a South India Language). What I found so interesting, because I love studying where names come from and what they mean, is that this one means “snap of the fingers”. The name represents the speed at which Chitika online ads are displayed on a website. Isn’t that just fascinating!!

This company serves more than 200 countries but they have their headquarters right here in the good old USA. In Westborough, Massachusetts to be exact. They also have over 500,000 plus publishers from around the globe. Now let’s jump in to advertising.

Advertising- Does it really Work?

They provide you with online advertising for your website that has a no contract, no commitments or any of that crazy stuff, in other words it’s a no frills deal, just plain smart advertising for your website. They have 4 billion ads targeted per month That is a bunch of ads!! Yahoo, Super Media and Home Advisor are among just a few big names that use them, but there are many more. Chitika can also be found on Facebook, Twitter, Linkin, and YouTube.

They write their own newsletter called the Chitika Pulse. To me that’s impressive! The reports are delivered right to your inbox once you sign up by leaving your email. This shows how they are using technology to their advantage. So do you think advertising can work? I see that it does if used correctly.

The Package Deal

So what comes in their combos? Ads that join your content seamlessly which in turn means there is no stress or hassle. You just name your brand, state your domain and Chitika will come up with an ad that is appropriate to go with that. In other words, you can see your offers. Chitika does give you some helpful suggestions on the most productive placement of your ad but you choose where to place it.

They do have a program known as Cidewalk. This is a new mobile advertising platform that offers many different assistive devices to help grow your business. These aids include:

  • Local Targeting– choosing only those close to you
  • Technologically Advanced Marketing– more modern and more beneficial than traditional advertising. Used mostly by small and mid-sized business
  • Cost-Effective Ads– priced to fit the budget of any small business

This program is currently available only in the U.S.

This seems to be the only weakness I found with this program. It is a conflicting weakness. My example is listed below to help you better understand what I am talking about.

On their website they have a support center that is helpful. They do have online articles which cover many different topics. If you click yes or no at the bottom of the article to state whether it was helpful or not, you will get a simple “thank you” but that’s not an answer in my opinion. For example, if you found the article valuable, you would get a reply of “Thank you”. But in the same situation if you didn’t find the article worthwhile you would still get a “Thank you”. That doesn’t make much sense to me.

They can also be reached at their headquarters and I have listed their mailing address below

  • NATICK,MA 01760

  • Phone +1-508-231-5318
  • Fax +1-801-340-7438

or they can always be contacted by email.

Okay What Does It Cost Me?

First let me repeat, it’s free to join, you just press the BIG blue button one their website that says “SIGN UP FOR FREE”

To join simply enter your email and it takes about 30 seconds to be approved. Then you will automatically be approved and receive a code to place your ad on your website. Easy- peasy. Your next step will be to log in to your publisher’s account and choose an Ad format you like. Their ads are set-up according to your niche.

You will need to fill out a W-9 (U.S resident only) or W-8BEN (Foreign Resident) to be payed by payoneer. On this you can choose to either have a bank draft or debit card.

The fasted way to be payed is through payoneer. They pay every month when your amount reaches a minimum of $50 in ads or $10 in referrals.

You simply follow their rules and post the codes and the ads will appear on your websites!

My Opinion/Thoughts

A company where art and science meet. The fact that they have been awarded an award by the Boston Business Journal for the Healthiest Employers in 2013 is a BIG deal to me.

An ad that appears one your website at an instant speed. Now that’s something most people nowadays would love.

A no frills contract deal- sounds like a prepaid cell phone. I think I like that idea. I could use that and I think a lot of other people would also!!

So as, I promised I will give you MY recommendation. My recommendation is not telling you what you have to do but just my opinion. I have listed the facts so you can also make up YOUR mind just like I  am going to do.

          Pro                                                                                        Cons

  • it’s free                                                                               support lacking
  • No contract                                                                       support unclear
  • fast website                                                                       confusing
  • well-known                                                                       not user-friendly

I also want to mention another company that is terrific!!! You can read my review in detail if you click here but I will give you a short version. Tried and True

  1. Thanks for letting me know about this chitika, it must be very helpful in advertising. Sending the advert directly into your website is an advantage one would not like to miss.
Thank you for this well written and presented post

    • I enjoyed researching this company and liked their product. I will be also be promoting it. It’s a company worth looking into in my opinion. Thank you for the comments.

      Tried and true

  2. First of all, I am devastated that Chitika is still solely available in the States. When I see a FREE OF CHARGE sign, my eyes start twinkling. I am using an advertising network which is quite affirmed in UK, but whose payout terms are extremely long. Chitika has optimal payout terms, which I have never encountered before.
But what is not clear to me is how Chitika makes money. Is it through a membership for affiliate companies?
    Thank you 🙂

    • Thank you for taking a look and commenting on my review. From my understanding I believe they make their money through Citywalk program. The more advanced advertising program. But that was a point I wasn’t quite sure about either.
I agree with you when I see the work FREE or CLEARANCE I am focused in on them. I have learned to read the fine print and this one did have some what I call eyebrow raising items. I looked into the program but wasn’t able to get all my questions answered.

      Tried and true
